Our STORY
4bells Public House is a joint venture between Chef Sergio Emilio Monleón, owner of La Marcha, a critically acclaimed tapas bar, and Jennifer Seidman, owner of Acme Bar & Company, a popular neighborhood bar with an award-winning whiskey collection.
Together, Monleón and Seidman have created a fun neighborhood pub with elevated bar food and simple, yet high quality beverages complete with an arcade game room where everyone is welcome – sports fans, couples, families or large parties. The name “4bells” references the number of quarters in basketball and gridiron football games as well as the ever-present bell in many popular sports around the world.
“As long-time friends and Berkeley neighbors, we’re excited to join forces and open a much-needed place in our community where people at every stage in life can simply relax, enjoy great food and drinks, and watch or play a game,” said Monleón and Seidman. “4bells has been a labor of love for the past two years and we’re thrilled to bring the concept to life.”
Inspired by Chef Monleón and Seidman’s vision, the interior of 4bells is warm and inviting with deep purple and grey tones. Featuring the oldest back bar in Berkeley, the hand-carved European-style bar at Four Bells seats nine. The sports bar also boasts six large screen TVs, a state-of-the-art sound system, numerous electrical outlets, and an arcade game room with vintage pinball games.
The hybrid model of fast-casual and counter-service combined with highly trained staff members ensures that guests will be able to dine and imbibe at their own pace. 4bells is open seven days a week from 3 to 9 p.m. for dine in and take-out.
